Are you an experienced development engineer with strong expertise in front-end project development and field studies within the oil and gas industry? TotalEnergies EP Malaysia is seeking a Lead Development Engineer (Kenyalang) to drive the maturation of major offshore development projects from feasibility through to pre-project and FEED phases. This role is critical in ensuring integrated, cost-effective, and technically robust development solutions aligned with corporate and regulatory requirements.

Activities

Your Impact As a Lead Development Engineer, you will: Lead multidisciplinary development studies across feasibility, conceptual, and pre-project phases, ensuring alignment with business strategy and financial objectives. Drive development planning, concept selection, and cost estimation, supporting both greenfield and brownfield projects as well as asset retirement studies. Coordinate closely with subsurface, engineering, operations, commercial, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure optimal project integration and efficiency.Ensure compliance with corporate governance, technical standards, and Malaysian regulatory requirements, including PETRONAS standards and environmental regulations. Oversee structured study processes, including Feasibility Peer Assessments and Project Reviews, ensuring high-quality deliverables. Manage project handovers from pre-project to FEED and execution, ensuring continuity and readiness for downstream phases.

Candidate Profile

What We Are Looking For To succeed in this role, you will need: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and registration with a relevant professional body (e.g. BEM). Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in upstream oil and gas, including strong exposure to front-end development and FEED studies.Proven expertise in feasibility studies, concept engineering, development planning, and cost estimation. Solid understanding of PETRONAS standards and Malaysian regulatory frameworks. Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams across complex development projects.Experience in cross-cultural environments and proficiency in digital engineering tools is an advantage.
