This fixed-term position through December 2027 offers a defined, high-impact mandate to set strategy and priorities, lead a geographically dispersed team, and shape significant enterprise initiatives.

The role spans the international tax agenda, from significant cross-border initiatives and engagement with senior business leaders to oversight of recurring responsibilities. The successful candidate must quickly establish credibility, exercise sound judgment in complex and ambiguous situations, influence senior stakeholders, and translate enterprise priorities into clear direction for the team. Although primarily a leadership role, the individual must be willing to work directly on critical matters when needed.

  • Serve as a senior advisor to Regional Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Law, Supply Chain, and other business leaders, helping shape decisions that advance business objectives while addressing relevant tax and accounting considerations
  • Lead Tax’s strategy and execution for significant enterprise transformation and cross-border initiatives, including changes to operating models, supply chains, legal entity structures and financial flows
  • Direct external advisor support and coordinate with the broader Tax function to supplement the team’s capacity and technical expertise on priority matters
  • Maintain end-to-end accountability for direct tax responsibilities outside the United States, including tax planning, dividends, and other Treasury matters; entity governance; compliance and reporting coordination; transfer pricing; and profit monitoring
  • Lead the response to significant international tax audits, coordinating with the global tax audit team and external advisors
  • Partner with Tax Reporting and Finance to ensure that business transactions, operating results, and tax planning initiatives are properly reflected in Amgen’s financial reporting and tax returns
  • Provide senior tax leadership for international business development, collaboration, and licensing transactions and other strategic matters as needed
  • Monitor relevant international tax policy developments, determine their implications for Amgen, and direct necessary changes to strategies, processes, documentation, and controls
  • Deliver durable improvements to the team’s operating model, governance, and documentation that support effective execution beyond the fixed-term assignment

Essential qualifications

  • Substantial international tax leadership experience in a complex multinational environment
  • Experience owning international tax strategy and leading significant cross-functional or business transformation initiatives from evaluation through implementation
  • Experience leading and developing geographically dispersed teams
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and make decisions in complex or ambiguous situations
